Hello!
I am an Assistant Professor and Writing Center Director at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee.
I was drawn to the field after my first visit at my undergraduate writing center. As a freshman, I had never heard of a writing center, and the support it brought me as I adjusted to new expectations of college writing made all the difference. I knew I wanted to do the same for others. The next year I became a tutor, and a handful of years and three writing centers later, here I am, continuing my goal of staying around this work forever.
I soon discovered that Rhetoric/Composition had many facets, and my interests expanded as I learned, listened, and collaborated. My research interests include writing center theory, first-year writing, writing across the curriculum, and multimodality. Teaching is my passion and my students are the driving force behind my work.
Outside of the academic world, I enjoy being outside, preferably near the Tennessee River, spending time with family, exercising, and laughing.
